The Intake Specialist serves as a patient advocate and facilitates the process that allows for access to life changing care for members of the community. The Intake Specialist is a professional who serves as the first point of contact at the facility for all patients and families seeking services. Intake Specialists work within a collaborative team including physicians, providers, other intake specialists and many other members of a multidisciplinary team. The Intake Specialist gains career experience to develop and progress with a nationally recognized behavioral health leader.
 Job Responsibilities: 
 - Welcome patients and caregivers, ensuring a positive and seamless admission process.
 - Collect, verify, and input medical, insurance, and demographic information with accuracy.
 - Explain and complete admission paperwork, obtaining required signatures (e.g., patient rights, consent forms).
 - Register patients and manage documents using the Cerner system.
 - Conduct safety checks and assist with belongings searches as needed.
 - Manage patient interactions in crisis situations, maintaining a calm and welcoming environment.
 - Facilitate unscheduled admissions, including screenings and scheduling in collaboration with Patient Access.
 - Communicate with multidisciplinary teams to address clinical criteria, documentation, and treatment issues.
 - Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulatory requirements.
 - Explain insurance coverage to patients and handle related inquiries.
 - Provide clear documentation and communicate cases requiring special attention.
 - Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled
 
 
Other Requirements: 
 - Professional demeanor and adherence to hospital policies.
 - Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and willingness to participate in training.
 - Commitment to the mission of Rogers Behavioral Health and patient care excellence.
 
 
Schedule: 
 - On-call, weekends, and holidays as needed.
 - This role is ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a passion for mental health care.
 
 
Education/Training Requirements:
 High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Mental Health experience preferred. Computer skills required, including word processing. Previous experience in insurance, billing preferred. Oconomowoc Only: Valid driver's license preferred and must be granted insurable status by the Rogers insurance policy.
