The Digital Solutions Engineer delivers expert technical consulting and implementation support for RDC digital products, including installation, integration, auto verification, testing, and ongoing maintenance. This role ensures seamless connectivity between RDC instruments and customer systems (LIS, EMR, etc.), while also providing basic training and post-go-live support. Partnering with Field Project Managers, the engineer evaluates customer needs, defines specifications, and oversees all technical post-sale activities-ensuring timely, compliant, and effective solution delivery. Responsibilities include leading remote and on-site pre-planning discussions, configuration, validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for hardware, software, networking, and security components. The role requires frequent travel (25%+), strong project leadership, and the ability to manage expectations, mitigate risks, and collaborate cross-functionally with customers and internal teams. A seasoned professional in the diagnostic space, this engineer tackles complex challenges, supports process improvement initiatives, and ensures alignment with quality and regulatory standards.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of Digital product solutions, including gathering and documenting customer requirements-especially for complex features like auto verification-to maximize the Roche Diagnostics (RDC) solution.

  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to design, implement, and validate tailored digital workflows, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational goals.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for integration projects, managing scope, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations while ensuring resource alignment and regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee on-site and remote installations, providing technical leadership, troubleshooting support, and escalation management during installation and post-go-live phases to ensure solution effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

  • Perform validation and optimization of Digital/IT solutions, ensuring full functionality and adoption of product features through routine follow-up and customer engagement.

  • Monitor project progress, maintain internal tracking systems, and drive cross-functional collaboration between customers, Roche, and third-party vendors.

  • Identify and lead opportunities for continuous improvement, providing actionable feedback to global teams, marketing, and product development on customer needs and potential product enhancements.

  • Develop consulting tools, training materials, and installation guides to support scalable service offerings and consistent solution delivery.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Medical Technology, Life Sciences and two years of laboratory IT, general IT, product line experience or 4 years experience

Preferred

  • Strong technical expertise across key platforms and technologies, including Microsoft Windows, Oracle, Apache, Intersystems Cache, and security frameworks.

  • Fluent in healthcare integration standards and regulatory requirements, such as HL7, ASTM, IHE, DICOM, ADT, and HIPAA.

  • Deep understanding of the clinical laboratory environment, including LIS functionality, diagnostic workflows, and RDC Digital Solution integration with instruments.

  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues; applies critical thinking to resolve technical and operational challenges.

  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable engaging directly with customers during high-impact escalations, offering operational and organizational insight to drive resolution.

  • Skilled in evaluating complex systems and applying logical frameworks, including rule-based algorithms and Boolean logic.

  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, balancing timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis is $82,600.00 to $153,400.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
