What this job involves:

As a Building Controls Integration Specialist, you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing power monitoring systems across a designated region. This role combines technical expertise, coding skills, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders. You'll play a key role in ensuring high-performance facility operations, quality maintenance, and client satisfaction.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Develop and integrate systems including: OPC (DMZ) Power Management Expert (PME) Schneider Electric Johnson Metasys SQL databases
  • Create Visio diagrams to document field changes and discrepancies.
  • Serve as the Power Management Expert for JLL's tech client account.
  • Maintain strong communication with client teams to ensure satisfaction and address operational concerns.
  • Participate in weekly staff and controls meetings, energy management initiatives, cybersecurity compliance, and OptiPlex computing strategies.
  • Follow all JLL and client safety standards and promote safety awareness on job sites.
  • Train others on electronic control systems and software (e.g., PME, OPC, device installation/configuration).
  • Support mechanical staff with non-critical equipment.
  • Install, operate, troubleshoot, and verify building automation systems.
  • Commission and verify power monitoring systems, including alarm handling, failover sequencing, and dashboard/GUI setup.
  • Inspect, calibrate, repair, and install control devices (Modbus, OPC, BACnet, SQL).
  • Perform preventive maintenance on energy systems and equipment, including: Log file reviews Metering accuracy Monthly energy reporting (ISO 50K SEUs) RTUs, Busways, Lighting, Compressed Air, Data Center, Utility Main SWG Modbus Gateway Communication Dashboard capacity/load reporting Annual architectural reviews and TAGS compliance
  • Respond to service calls to restore system operations.
  • Recommend system modifications for energy efficiency, reliability, and cybersecurity compliance (e.g., SCADA systems, UPS energy management).
Required experience and skills:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of proven work experience in electric/HVAC building controls and power monitoring systems
  • CMMS/BAS experience required, such as: Johnson Metasys Carrier Comfort Network Honeywell/Metricon Niagara
  • Programming skills required, including: BAS: Boolean logic, ladder logic, relay logic, controls theory System Integration: SQL, C++, Java, C#, JSON, Python
  • Valid state driver's license (travel to client sites required)
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical control systems
  • Ability to read and modify mechanical/electrical drawings
  • Skilled in programming and troubleshooting building automation systems
  • Experience with Windows Server environments
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards for building automation
  • Proficiency in CMMS and/or BMS systems
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, Outlook)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience managing critical systems (e.g., data centers, UPS, switchgear)
  • MatrikonOPC Integrator OPCSI Certification
  • Exposure to Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert (PME)
  • Niagara 4 Technical Certification Program (TCP)
