The Position

Director of Marketing, Molecular Systems

Mission: Position the Clinical Molecular platforms to optimize retention of existing business, competitive takeaways via channel fill and new placements, and drive decision making for future product pipeline.

This pivotal role provides strategic leadership and direct management for the x800 family of platforms, pre-analytic solutions, GenMark, and Light Cycler within Roche's Clinical Molecular business. The Group Marketing Manager is accountable for driving both near-term business plan achievement and securing long-term market leadership in laboratory molecular testing.

The role involves inspiring and leading a high-performing team of people leaders and product marketing managers, fostering their development and ensuring the successful execution of the commercial strategy. This includes spearheading the comprehensive marketing plan and launch programs designed to generate demand and maximize sales for cutting-edge molecular systems and pre-analytic solutions in lab and syndromic testing.

A core focus will be translating market insights into actionable operational and profit plans, meticulously tracking marketing budgets and projections, and leading the analysis and evaluation of marketing initiatives to optimize impact and return on investment. The position oversees the entire product lifecycle, from researching market conditions and preferences to developing robust production and marketing strategies that ensure optimal product placement. Furthermore, responsibility extends to tracking and reporting on the future portfolio pipeline, contributing to critical business case development and optimizing marketing asset utilization with recommendations for continuous improvement.

Leadership will extend beyond direct authority, effectively influencing and collaborating with local and global stakeholders across R&D, sales, and other key functions to achieve shared strategic and tactical business objectives. The Manager will oversee departmental resources, including full discretion over employment decisions for the team, ensuring the consistent achievement of departmental goals and the successful commercialization and launch of new molecular diagnostic deliverables in the US market.

Job Facts:

6 month deliverables:

  • Conduct channel fill analysis and create strategy to maximize installed instrument potential

  • Drive successful launch of 2.0 software upgrade

  • Lead strategy on automation solutions to win high throughput lab business

  • Build digital roadmap for Navify Molecular solutions to create differentiated product offering

12 month deliverables:

  • Hit 2026 plan for new instrument placements

  • Develop strategy to incorporate distinct molecular platforms (x800, GenMark, LightCycler PRO, and pre-analytics) into integrated molecular offering

  • Ensure alignment with assays team for successful launch of 4 key products

  • Partner with global to optimize syndromic testing performance

Ongoing responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of the Molecular Labs leadership marketing team.

  • Responsible for Product Marketing Management of the x800, Prime, GenMark, and Light Cycler Pro platforms as well as digital Navify strategy

  • Directs the strategic development of the annual Integrated Business Plan. Responsible for the assessment of existing and potential markets, product lifecycle planning, coordination of technical product development, development of strategic product strategies, launch and promotional activities.

  • Directs the collection and analysis of market research to support the product areas and support product planning and the development process. Drives decision making and achieve objectives. Leads the analysis of industry trends, competitive developments, and business performance, to define key strategic issues, appropriate long term business goals, and strategy alternatives.

  • May develop and communicate a strategy for the development of "best practices" in marketing research, including on-going development of standardized metrics, methods and benchmarks to assess concept and product performance, customer requirements, and/or brand equity.

  • Develops corporate short and long-term goals, and objectives for specific area of responsibility.

  • May develop production and marketing strategies and tactics to ensure effective product placement relative to market opportunity, working closely with product development for a specific product, brand, or product area over its entire life cycle.

  • Determines the profitability and viability of targeted segments, new products or product enhancements.

  • Create and drive strong linkage to other functional areas, business areas, and colleagues, to ensure achievement of objectives with successful stakeholder management and effective resolution of issues.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and other key external individuals.

  • Communicate to provide input and guide products/segments this may include new products and product launches. Manage the commercialization of products including the identification of the appropriate target group(s) and addressing the needs of all customers.

  • Recruit, hire, train, and provide continuous coaching and feedback necessary to develop a high performance marketing team which may include people in multiple locations.

  • Ensure the RD Quality Policy is understood, implemented, and maintained in the organization. Establishes and maintains an adequate organizational structure, provides adequate resources, and establishes appropriate management controls to ensure the sales group is suitable and effective to satisfy regulatory requirements and the company's quality policy. Ensures a work culture committed to compliance, quality, and customer focus. Ensure 100% compliance with Good promotional practices, AdvaMed guidelines and the RD quality policy.

Who You Are:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, or scientific or business related field.

  • You hold 7 years of progressive marketing experience or equivalent work experience.

  • You hold 3 years of marketing leadership experience.

  • Ability to lead and direct employees

  • Proven ability to motivate and influence in a positive manner and create a culture of inclusivity and performance

  • Proven record of multi-tasking and ability to handle a high pressure environment with significant timeline pressures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in sequencing related subject or business

  • 10 years relevant marketing or equivalent experience with demonstrated success preferred with health care industry

  • More than 5 years management experience with demonstrated strong competency and proven track record in marketing management and leadership

  • Knowledge of technical and market issues/factors

  • Global experience preferred

  • Knowledge of digital tools and how to utilize these to drive marketing strategy

  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity

  • Experience building long range strategic plans and mobilizing them to execution

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indiana is $147,400 - $273,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
