About the Role

As our Platform Analyst, you will own the middle layer of Zipcar's analytics stack. You'll ensure Zipcar's analytics platform is scalable, reliable, and trusted, serving as a critical enabler of data governance and self-service insights across the company. With data coming from all aspects of our business, it is critical that our data platform grows with our need to leverage the data. The Platform Analyst will maintain our existing Looker platform while determining ways to evolve it to fit business needs.

As the backbone of the Analytics team, you will work with teams from Product to Engineering, to Marketing, Finance, Sales, and Operations to improve clarity, understanding, and interpretation of all data. This is a role suited for a person who is always seeking ways to improve the platform and building their colleagues' ability for self-service data insights.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with Analytics, Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to define and deliver Zipcar's global data analytics strategy

  • Define and document Zipcar's core business metrics in alignment with governance policies, ensuring consistency across teams and reports

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Zipcar's data platform, including data generation, capture, transformation, and modeling in Looker and the data warehouse

  • Design and lead training programs to build company-wide proficiency in Looker, enabling teams to confidently explore and interpret data

  • Develop and document core metrics and dashboards in Looker, ensuring metrics accurately reflect business performance and are consistent throughout the platform

  • Build tools for root-cause analysis and automated alerting to help stakeholders quickly identify and resolve issues

  • Continuously optimize platform usability, security, and clarity by managing access, auditing usage, and maintaining content hygiene

  • Advise on strategies for data governance across the organization by standardizing tooling, maintaining a single source of truth, and providing training on analytics practices

  • Work with a wide variety of stakeholders at differing levels of data literacy

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree a plus

  • Minimum two years of professional analytics experience, ideally in a related industry

  • Proven experience designing and delivering training programs to onboard employees on a data platform and upskilling current employees with best practices

  • Excellent SQL skills and experience working with large-scale cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)

  • Professional experience with data visualization and BI tools, with Looker experience strongly preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (including executive team) and articulate ideas, analysis results, and recommendations

  • Familiarity with software development workflows (version control, code review, reproducibility)

  • Strong understanding of data visualization principles and experience presenting insights through clear, intuitive charts, graphs, and dashboards

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with modern programming languages like Python or R

  • Knowledge of ETL processes and dbt

  • Experience working with standard AWS services (EC2, S3, etc.)

  • Familiarity with statistical methods

  • Background in transportation, location planning, urban analytics, or consumer marketplaces

The annual starting salary for this position is between $85,000 - $100,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
