Medical Science Advisor

The Medical Science Advisor (MSA) is a key member of the medical affairs team, reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Field Medical, supporting broader medical affairs goals and initiatives. The primary purpose of the MSA is to establish and maintain peer to peer relationships with leading physicians, thought leaders, and health care providers, effectively communicating unbiased, timely, relevant medical information and capturing and relaying key strategic insights internally. As part of a specialized field-based team of medical scientific experts, the MSA engages with external experts (trial sites, treatment centers, centers of excellence, community) throughout the product lifecycle, providing in-depth scientific and medical expertise in oncology and cell therapy, to educate, answer deep scientific questions, to achieve improved patient outcomes.

This position is a home-based, remote position in the SouthEast U.S. and will have significant expectations for travel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop deep relationships and engage regularly with clinical trial sites, investigators, key opinion leaders, HCPs and staff at centers of excellence, authorized treatment centers and referring centers to understand unique/unmet needs and serve as a trusted resource of accurate, unbiased, timely information in support of launch, commercialized products and pipeline programs.
  • Respond to educational requests from commercial field colleagues in assigned territory or on a national basis in limited situations where requests are best suited to individual expertise. MSAs are responsible for the delivery of accurate and compliant information to HCPs.
  • Establish and execute a coordinated strategic medical/territory plan, aligned to overarching medical strategy, prioritizing key business priorities and maximizing efficiency
  • Bring back key insights from field-based activities and advisory boards to inform the clinical development program, strategic medical initiatives, and LCM strategies.
  • Ensure high quality presentations of scientific data to HCPs in various settings, including advisory boards, investigator meetings, and other appropriate venues to enhance product/disease state knowledge
  • Support the medical team at national and regional scientific meetings, including but not limited to staffing medical affairs booths, gathering competitive intelligence, and developing pre- and post-conference scientific materials
  • Track and provide quantitative and qualitative data from MSA activities that demonstrate customer impact to the broader organization and ensure goal achievement.
  • Develop and maintain scientific and medical expertise through continuous learning and knowledge of scientific literature, disease and therapeutic landscape

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Advanced Medical or Health Science degree from an accredited college or university (i.e., MD, PharmD, NP or PhD)
  • 7+ years experience/proven track record in a medical scientific role or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated scientific and business acumen.
  • Excellent understanding of clinical development and commercial environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; in depth Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Able to travel up to 70% of time

Desirable

  • Experience in oncology, product launch, cell therapy products, and/or rare disease
