Position Summary:

The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University learns from and works with people with disabilities and their families in diverse communities across Pennsylvania to create and share knowledge, change systems and society, and promote self-determined lives so that disability is recognized as a natural part of the human experience.

The Grants Administrator plays a vital role in supporting the Institute on Disabilities (IOD) by ensuring strong financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and administrative excellence across its growing portfolio of externally and internally funded projects. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of pre- and post-award grant administration, including budget development, award set-up, financial analysis, and closeout. The incumbent will apply - or quickly develop - specialized knowledge of federal, state, foundation, and institutional requirements to maintain eligibility for current and future funding. By providing proactive financial oversight, technical guidance, and operational support, the Grants Administrator helps advance IOD's strategic priorities and supports the expansion of its research and programmatic initiatives.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree 4 years of financial and grants administration experience in a higher education or non-profit setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Ability to read and understand financial statements, contracts, and a willingness to gain knowledge and understanding of basic research administration principles.
*Demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy in budgets, financial reports, and compliance documentation.
*Skilled at identifying trends, variances, and risks in financial data and recommending solutions.
*Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex grant policies to diverse audiences.
*Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
*Proven ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators as part of a cross-functional team.
*Resourceful and proactive in resolving financial and administrative challenges.
*Commitment to compliance, confidentiality, and responsible stewardship of funds.
*Willingness to stay up to date on regulatory changes and emerging best practices in research administration.

Preferred:
*Experience in Temple University systems, including Banner, TUmarketplace, Concur, etc.
*CRA or comparable research administration certification
*Master's degree in finance, accounting, public administration, or a related field; preferred.
*4 to 5 years of experience in research administration, grant management, or sponsored program administration in a university or nonprofit setting.
*Working knowledge of federal regulations governing sponsored projects (e.g., Uniform Guidance, NIH/NSF policies).
*Experience with pre-award (proposal preparation, budget development) and post-award (financial monitoring, reporting, closeout) activities.
*Proficiency with grant management and financial systems (e.g., Cayuse, Banner, or similar ERP tools).
*Strong Excel and data analysis skills for budget tracking and forecasting.
*Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including principal investigators, finance teams, and external sponsors.
