Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, providing high-quality service and care during specimen collection. This role is responsible for collecting and preparing blood samples for laboratory testing while maintaining strict adherence to established safety, accuracy, and confidentiality standards. The PSR I creates an atmosphere of trust and professionalism, ensuring patients are informed and comfortable throughout the process. This position requires strong technical phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to process excellence and patient satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily specimen collection and processing activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment in compliance with all health and safety standards
  • Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection procedures with confidence and precision
  • Provide clear communication and reassurance to patients to ensure a positive experience
  • Accurately identify, label, and process specimens following established protocols
  • Maintain all required records and documentation according to regulatory and company standards
  • Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and promote a professional image to patients, clients, and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations and excellent patient care
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Job Requirements

  • Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as required
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite (public transportation or rideshare services not considered reliable)
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are mandatory; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred


Work Schedule and Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Rotational Saturday: 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at an alternate facility
  • Full-time, on-site position (not eligible for remote work)
  • Compensation rate determined based on verified years of direct experience


Additional Job Details (COVID, Commute, Attendance, etc.)

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
  • Candidates must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the worksite to ensure reliable attendance
  • Must include home city and commute time on the resume for consideration
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and availability for scheduled shifts are essential for continued employment
