Job Summary
The Record Center Specialist is responsible for the physical handling, organization, and movement of storage materials including boxes, bins, and totes containing files, books, binders, backup tapes, and other records. This role involves frequent lifting, carrying, stacking, and transporting materials in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and adherence to established handling procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Process orders by locating, retrieving, and organizing records and storage materials
- Manually lift, carry, and move boxes weighing between 10 and 100 pounds regularly and without assistance
- Load and operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely on various surfaces, including concrete and uneven floors
- Walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, and bend for extended periods throughout the workday
- Climb and balance on ladders to retrieve and store materials
- Read and interpret labels, process incoming and outgoing orders, and ensure accurate record management
- Operate handheld scanners and use proprietary computer systems to track and update inventory and storage locations
- Load boxes onto pallets, shrink-wrap pallets, and assist with truck loading and unloading
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including activities related to building move and receiving operations
Job Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 100 pounds repeatedly and safely without assistance
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and twist for extended periods
- Basic reading and writing skills in English
- Ability to operate manual material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand carts
- Strong attention to safety and adherence to handling protocols
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Protective Equipment Requirements
- Protective footwear is required and must meet ASTM F2413-11 Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear
- Footwear must have a slip-resistant rating designated as "Better" or "Best"
Work Schedule
- Standard schedule: 5 days per week, 9 hours per day (including a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks)
- Position may require flexibility to support building move and receiving activities as needed
