About The Job: The Sales Yard/Stockpile Loader Operator is responsible for efficiently and safely operating a loader to manage materials within a sales yard or stockpile area. This role involves loading, unloading, and organizing materials such as aggregates, recycling and other construction materials. The operator ensures that materials are properly stored, ready for sale or distribution, and maintains a neat and organized yard environment. This position will also be responsible for administrative duties in the scale house. What You'll Do: Equipment Operation. Operate the loader efficiently to load, unload, and move materials within the sales yard or stockpile area. Utilize loader attachments and equipment controls to handle different materials and arrange them for easy access. Material Handling. Load customer vehicles with the appropriate materials based on orders and specifications. Maintains stockpiles, cleans yard and plant areas and perform a variety of loading and lifting tasks. Maintains and organizes stockpiles by type and size of material, ensuring accessibility and efficient space utilization. Maintain inventory accuracy by keeping records of materials loaded and unloaded. Maintains adequate feed of materials to blending tunnels as required. Sales Support. Provides prompt loading service. Assist customers by providing information about loading procedures and safety guidelines. Safety and Compliance. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Maintain a safe working environment by keeping the yard free from hazards and obstacles. Equipment Maintenance. Performs pre and post operation checks on the loader. Documents and reports any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. Yard Organization. Ensure the yard is neatly organized, with clear travelways and properly labeled stockpiles. Monitor inventory levels and communicate with supervisors about restocking needs. Communication. Coordinate with customers, truck drivers, and supervisors to schedule loading activities efficiently. Communicate any delays, issues, or special requirements to relevant parties. Quality Control. Visually inspect materials for quality and consistency before loading them onto trucks or customer vehicles. Follows stockpiling procedures to prevent contamination. Documentation. Maintain accurate records of materials loaded, inventory levels, and loading activities. Environmental Awareness. Follow guidelines for proper disposal of waste materials and prevention of environmental contamination. Coordinate Customer Orders. Responsible for weighing customer trucks, providing timely and accurate tickets to customers, and ensuring the smooth traffic flow across the scales. Assist in the coordination of truck dispatch orders to ensure maximum efficiency. Ensure that tickets are verified for numbers, dated and time accuracy and ensure that customer trucks leave the yard properly loaded. Perform Daily Plant Duties. Perform various daily administrative plant duties as the plant manager requires (e.g., purchase orders, payables, time cards, fuel usage and receipts, bank deposits, tracking costs, and running local reports for the plant manager). Prepare Monthly Financial Information. Prepare month-end closing information for Accounting based on the current closing schedule. Prepare detailed analyses of monthly margin and cost statements as requested by location management. Reconcile time cards for all plant personnel, ensuring correct hours are reported and paid. Serve as Plant Contact. Receive guests and answer phones, directing questions or problems to the appropriate individual. When necessary, serve as backup for some scale clerk duties. General Office Management. Maintain correct inventory levels for all plant and office materials, ordering new materials when appropriate. Prepare correspondence, reports, manuals, and forms. Work with the region's Human Resources department to handle personnel requests and problems. Work with the region's Safety department to handle safety and environmental issues. Critical Competencies Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating large loaders, including understanding the controls, gauges, and indicators. Ability to manipulate the loader accurately and smoothly for various tasks, such as loading, dumping, and transporting materials. Material Handling: Proficient in loading various materials onto trucks, conveyors and other transport vehicles while maintaining load stability and distribution. Ability to accurately estimate weights and volumes for optimal load and transportation efficiency. Problem Solving: Ability to assess loading challenges and adapt accordingly. Demonstrate decision making in response to unexpected situations or change in the work environment. Spatial Awareness: Strong sense of spatial awareness to maneuver the loader safely in tight spaces, around obstacles and in congested work areas. Teamwork: Ability to effectively work as a part of a team, coordinating with other operators, dispatch/scale house and ground personnel. Knowledge of Accounting Principles. Must possess a fundamental understanding of accounting principles and knowledge of common office practices, procedures, and use of office equipment. Technology Skills. Must be able to use computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Must have appropriate typing skills and a thorough understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Interpersonal Skills. Must have outstanding communication skills and can interact well with people at all levels of the organization. What You'll Like About Us: Hourly Range: the hourly range for this role is between $22.21 - $28.40. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
