Your role

While reporting to the General Manager, you have operational and financial responsibility over the service center's transportation activities. You're ultimately responsible for the sustainable productivity of the shipping and transport operation.


This involves, amongst other responsibilities, managing all inbound and outbound transport activities in a lean manner. Measure performance metrics to identify operational and cost efficiency opportunities. Coordinate and develop staff in order to maximize productivity and gear the distribution center towards profitable growth.

To succeed, you will need

People Management



  • Lead and supervise Shipping & Transport staff, setting a strong example.
  • Identify training needs and implement cross-training to support development and reduce disruptions.
  • Set performance goals, monitor results, address gaps, and drive productivity.
  • Develop high-potential employees for future roles within the Atlas Copco Group.


Transportation Management



  • Negotiate domestic and international transport agreements to reduce costs and improve service.
  • Monitor KPIs (cost, service level, damage rate) to ensure targets are met.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, cost-effective, and damage-free deliveries.
  • Establish and communicate packaging and transport guidelines across all products.
  • Integrate carrier dispatch systems with ERP to automate processes and improve cost tracking.
  • Oversee the Freight Audit team, ensuring they have efficient tools and support.
  • Maintain accurate claim/damage records to ensure timely reimbursements and trend analysis.
  • Collaborate with freight forwarders to streamline customs clearance and improve delivery performance.
  • Report quarterly CO emissions and implement strategies to reduce transport-related emissions.
  • Serve as HAZMAT competence lead, ensuring compliance with training and certification standards.
  • Support cross-business initiatives to reduce overall transport/logistics costs through volume consolidation and synergy optimization.

  • Ensure legal record-keeping compliance in coordination with Trade Compliance.
  • Adhere to Group Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness within the team.
  • Include environmental impact in partner selection criteria.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Group's Business Code of Practice.
