Job Description

The Director of Foundation Communications and Engagement will lead and oversee the full communications and outreach programs of the Foundation. Partnering closely with the Foundation President, the Director will create and manage a strategic plan for multi-platform/multi-year communications focused on generating community interest and philanthropic support for El Camino's Health's key priority philanthropy projects. The Director works across service lines and with Community Relations to align donor interests with strategic growth areas (e.g., campus expansion, cancer, heart and vascular, mother & baby, and other emerging programs).

Qualifications

The Director will maintain a comprehensive calendar of the Foundation's outreach efforts, including print/electronic newsletters, annual giving solicitations, event invitations, and special stewardship communications. The ideal candidate brings a proven record of donor-centric storytelling, data-driven decision-making, and integrated marketing within nonprofit or healthcare settings. This role requires strategic vision, creativity, and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives while guiding the foundation's marketing/communications team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing & Branding: Partner with ECH Marketing to deliver integrated plans, collateral, and campaigns that maintain brand integrity, brand messaging, and amplify donor opportunity and impact.
  • Donor Communications: Ensure all direct marketing is donor-centric, compelling, and consistent across channels (print, digital, PR, and social).
  • Storytelling: Identify and integrate powerful stories to drive engagement and philanthropy.
  • Performance Tracking: Produce monthly performance reports; evaluate effectiveness across direct mail, digital, PR, and advertising.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Leverage analytics to refine campaigns, optimize ROI, and inform decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep expertise in integrated communications/marketing within nonprofit or healthcare organizations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with proven donor-centric messaging skills.
  • Demonstrated success in digital fundraising, campaign design, and performance measurement.
  • Experience in PR, branding, media, and vendor/agency management.
  • Strong project management and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in complex organizations.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools (web, social, email, paid media).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 7+ years in marketing/communications, with deep experience in digital fundraising.
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role, setting strategy and managing staff.
  • Track record in public relations, branding, and social media strategy.
  • Experience engaging donors and boards in healthcare or nonprofit settings preferred.

Salary Range:

$82.07 - $123.11 USD Hourly
