THE POSITION

Washington County's Land Use & Transportation is now hiring a Senior Inspector to join the Planning and Development Services Division!
The Position
The Senior Inspector provides guidance to inspectors with the solution to technical problems and advises applicants on code requirements, permit procedures, and building construction methods. Incumbents at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to the assigned area of responsibility. Senior Inspectors assist the Building Services Supervisor in ensuring the quality and consistency of code application and are considered a technical code expert.
Ideal Candidate
This ideal candidate will have experience in large scale commercial projects. They must have the ability to manage a project that can last multiple years. They must be able to correctly comprehend large sets of plans, include the details. Knowledge of the code and how to enforce the intent of the code. The candidate must posses good communication skill, soft skills and the ability to deescalate a tense situation. Electrical Inspectors must have the ability to complete commercial plumbing plan reviews.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
- A minimum of seven (7) years of construction or inspection-related work experience including experience acting in a lead or supervisory capacity; OR
- An approved one-year inspection-related education program AND a minimum of six (6) years of construction or inspection-related work experience, including experience acting in a lead or supervisory capacity; OR
- A degree from an approved two-year inspection-related education program, completion of an inspection-related journeyman apprenticeship program, or its equivalent AND a minimum of five (5) years of construction or inspection-related work experience, including experience acting in a lead or supervisory capacity; OR
- A Certified Oregon professional engineer or a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering AND two years of years of construction or inspection-related work experience, including experience acting in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Additional Requirements
- Possession of the required certifications per the State of Oregon based on the specialty area:
- The Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC)
- Oregon Electrical Inspector Certification (EI)

- Conditional Offer of Appointment: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the final candidate(s) and the hiring manager will extend a conditional offer of appointment.
- Post-Offer Check: The final candidate will require to successfully clear a third-party background check as a pre-employment condition. If offered for a bilingual position, additional oral and written bilingual proficiency tests are required.
- Start Date: A start date will be determined after all pre-employment condition(s) have been met.
