Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Directs operations of research studies alongside Principal Investigators and/or departmental senior management. Facilitates operational process development, compliance, and strategic planning. Develops and oversees the implementation of best practice guidelines for conducting various research protocols; creates/oversees training curriculum, provides/ensures training of incoming research staff and students. Collaborates with Principal Investigators and study stakeholders to manage the daily operations of research studies. Manages communication between study staff and internal and external stakeholders. Manages and trains the activities of research staff and conducts the performance management process. Prepares and monitors budgets and ensures compliance with sponsor, hospital, and governmental regulations. In collaboration with Principal Investigators and directors, carries out strategic planning, develops programmatic goals, and tracks their implementation and progress. Identify and manage operational, logistical, and regulatory challenges related to the conduct of clinical trials and act as a leader in overseeing their resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
  • All manager I and II Clinical Research Tasks and additionally the following duties may be added to the responsibilities:
    • Alongside Directors, Chiefs, and other senior management assists in the development, execution, and monitoring of BCH goals and strategic priorities.
    • Serves as a resource for the resolution of administrative questions/issues/problems.
    • Develop and monitor training curriculum for research staff to ensure regulations and best practices are learned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of relevant work experience; including 3 years of managerial experience. OR a Master's Degree, and 6 years of relevant work experience, including 3 years of management experience.
Experience:
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of assigned department/trial(s) to be able to evaluate questions and problems. Triages items to individuals with resources available to solve problems or answer questions.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a high level of knowledge of regulations, research conduct, laws, guidelines, and standards relating to department/trial(s). Knowledge of federal, state, and community funding sources and mechanisms.
  • Maintains department service standards with particular attention to personal, staff teamwork, and customer-staff interaction guidelines.
  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in which the information or problems are moderately complex to complex.
  • Well-developed communication skills to provide critical information to internal and external stakeholders, effectively deal with conflicting views or issues, and the ability to mediate fair solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles and procedures of research.
