Scope of Position:
The Youth Ministries Coordinator will develop youth ministries that will evangelize and disciple the youth of the Salem Kroc Corps Community Center and will be the bridge between the recreational programs and the congregational programs of our Corps. The Youth Ministries Coordinator will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents the Salem Kroc Corps in our community. The purpose of the Youth Ministries Coordinator is to lead young people to know and grow in Christ via outreach and discipleship programs and initiatives. The Youth Ministries Coordinator will strive to make all students understand the journey of our souls, encourage students who are interested in the knowledge of God, and support them to develop their love for Him and for others.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Although this position does not require or confer ordination, this is a "ministry position." Only Christians with a demonstrated strong personal faith and agreement with the teaching of Holy Scripture as explained in The Salvation Army "Articles of War" and the "Handbook of Doctrine" will be considered for this position. Maintaining a lifestyle and witness consistent with the above stated documents is required for continued employment. Must be able to teach and lead people consistent with Salvation Army doctrine and practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing, growing, and coordinating the church's youth ministry.
- Developing bridging opportunities for students between Kroc community center programs and events and Kroc youth and family ministry programs.
- Overseeing and examining curriculums for all programs, events, and classes.
- Leading elementary, middle, and high school students to encourage their spiritual growth.
- Interacting with students throughout week to aid with the Mission Integration of Kroc Center to Corps programs for youth.
- Developing positive relationships with students and their parents.
- Sharing program plans through internal advertising and social media.
- Displaying a Christ-like approach and lifestyle, and praying regularly for young people in the corps, community center and community.
- Incorporating youth into various corps ministries.
- Build connections and relationships within the Kroc Center and throughout the surrounding communities for outreach and awareness.
- Growing students who are interested in the knowledge of God and His Word.
- Organize and implement teen outreach and spiritual development activities including Corps Cadets, Bible Bowl, and the teen Sunday School Class.
- Assist and implement other youth programs, such as Jr. Church, Nursery, and SAY Club (Sunbeams, Girl Guards and Adventure Corps).
- Seek out ways to engage Kroc members in congregational programs.
- Plan and implement fundraisers for corps youth programs.
- Plan and implement devotions for Kroc Day Camp assemblies and After School Programs.
- Participate with the planning and implementation of Corps special events throughout the year, such as Vacation Bible School, camps and conferences, kettles (Christmas fundraising), back-to-school and toy drives and distribution.
- Assisting with the volunteer program in the corps:
- Recruit, schedule, monitor, motivate, encourage, and support volunteers for various programs.
- Assist with promotions, enrollment and administration of volunteer programs.
- Maintain Volunteer Records and ensure all appropriate background checks are completed.
- Maintain all Protecting the Mission and Driver's training records for all corps volunteers.
- Ensure the implementation of Protecting the Mission (Child and Vulnerable Adult Safety) policies and practices in all youth programs/ministries and participate in the Kroc Safety Committee as the Corps representative.
- Maintain the youth records in the Corps Roll Database and complete the quarterly Youth reports for Divisional Headquarters.
- Office clerical work, including composing letters, composing e-mail, answering phones, filing, copying, and creating fliers.
- Work a non-standard work week generally to accommodate Corps programs, Sunday Services, evening programs, Camp Schedules, Divisional weekend events and special Saturday events. This schedule will be set in collaboration with your supervisor based on the varying events of the week.
- Assist with transportation for corps youth programs, which requires the ability to drive a 14-passenger bus.
- Attendance and participation in Sunday School and Worship Services at the Salem Kroc Corps is required for this position.
- Support other Kroc Center departments, as assigned, which may include staff training, Kroc promotion and outreach events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Corps Officer.
Physical Requirements:
This position will require extended periods of standing and walking throughout the interior and exterior of the Kroc Center. Work will be performed on a different surface varying in evenness and hardness.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at desk using a computer and telephone, Able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, kneel, push, pull use hands to finger, hand, or feel objects, tools, or controls; to talk or hear; reach with hands and arms on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
Be in good health and be physically and mentally able to carry out assigned duties.
The Youth Ministries Coordinator must be able to work with minimal supervision and be comfortable working with a high degree of independence.

- Available to work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and public holidays, and on short notice.

Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years previous youth ministry experience. Leadership of Salvation Army youth programs preferred.
- Evident relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Affinity for young people.
License and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Driver License and have a clean driving record.

2 years: A minimum of 2 years previous youth ministry experience. (required)
Leadership of Salvation Army youth programs preferred. (preferred)
