Program Overview

Embark on a rewarding career at the intersection of finance and technology as an Analyst in Lumen's Finance & Accounting Rotational (FAR) Program. This early-career position is designed for recent graduates who wish to develop a comprehensive understanding of corporate finance and accounting. Through a structured two-year rotational program, analysts will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where artificial intelligence is transforming the future of finance. The FAR program offers participants exposure to real-world use cases where generative AI drives smarter decision-making, accelerates reporting, and delivers predictive insights.

Program Structure

FAR is a highly competitive, two-year leadership development program designed to accelerate your career. Consisting of four, six-month rotational assignments, the FAR program exposes early-in-career professionals to different segments of the Finance organization, gaining experience, knowledge, and building a far-reaching professional network. This broad exposure is designed to optimize FAR candidates' learning and to develop a pipeline of emerging leaders who can move through and have a transformative impact on the Finance organization at Lumen.

Beyond the four rotational assignments, FAR participants also participate in mentorship programs and supplemental professional development activities, including classroom learning and executive seminars designed to cultivate leadership, build business acumen, and develop technical skills and knowledge of the industry.

Key Resposibilities
  • Explore the Full Finance Ecosystem - Embark on a journey through multiple high-impact rotations across core Finance & Accounting functions-FP&A, Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, Treasury, and Tax. Each rotation offers a unique lens into how strategic financial decisions shape the business.
  • Drive Innovation with AI-Powered Finance - Be at the forefront of digital transformation by working on cutting-edge projects that harness AI to enhance decision-making, automate reporting, and deliver predictive insights that influence strategy.
  • Master the Fundamentals with a Strategic Edge - Dive into budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis while collaborating with seasoned professionals. Your work will directly inform leadership decisions and business outcomes.
  • Own the Close Process - Play a key role in month-end and quarter-end close activities-reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and support the creation of accurate, timely financial statements.
  • Be a Change Agent - Identify inefficiencies and help design smarter, faster workflows. Your ideas will fuel process improvement initiatives that boost productivity across the organization.
  • Build Models That Matter - Analyze complex financial data, develop robust models, and contribute to strategic planning using advanced tools and quantitative techniques.
  • Collaborate Across Functions - Work alongside cross-functional teams-including Finance, Data, and AI-to tackle special projects, drive process improvements, and deliver ad hoc analyses that make a real impact.

Position Location

This program is remote - work from where you live! If you are local to the metro Denver area, you will have the option to work hybrid, in office periodically.

What We Look For in a Candidate
Education & Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics or other degree program with a strong emphasis on Quantitative Analysis
    • Bachelor's degree must be completed prior to first day of employment
  • Superior record of achievement, both within and outside the classroom
Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Experience & Exposure
  • Basic understanding of AI concepts and tools (e.g., predictive modeling, automation, machine learning) and how they apply to finance functions such as forecasting, reporting, and risk analysis.
  • Prior internship or project experience is a plus, but not required.
Personal Attributes
  • Intellectually curious, proactive, and eager to learn.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$51410 - $68540 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$54110 - $72140 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$56820 - $75750 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$59520 - $79360 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
