Position Summary:

As an Associate Scientist in Cellular Sciences, you will play a key role in driving discovery and development research to better understand cellular processes and mechanisms. This laboratory-based role role focuses on advancing large-scale functional genomics studies using iPSC-derived models to drive target discovery, validation, and pathway studies with a particular focus on neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining iPSC culture and performing iPSC-differentiation, fundamental to accelerating target identification and validation. Our Cellular Sciences team excels through collaboration with various research units and platform groups, fostering a dynamic environment that encourages cross-disciplinary projects, scientific rigor, and innovative problem-solving. This is a lab-based position with mandatory on-site presence at our Upper Providence location.

Responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Culture and differentiate iPSC-derived cells to enable large-scale functional genomic and bespoke disease modelling studies, with a particular focus on neurodegeneration

  • Communicate experimental findings effectively, in written and verbal formats, to multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with all GSK R&D data integrity practices, ethics codes, standards and training, and safety training and practices

  • Work in a matrix team environment to enable optimal delivery of project and department objectives to the highest possible scientific standards

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelors in a life sciences discipline (e.g. cellular biology) with 2+ years of experience, or Masters in a life sciences discipline

  • Experience with iPSC culture and differentiation

  • Experience with cell and molecular biology techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience with programming or operating automated liquid handling systems

  • Familiarity with other complex in vitro models including but not limited to organoids, spheroids, etc.

  • Familiarity with inventory management or bioregistration systems

  • Ability to independently analyze, summarize, and interpret experimental data and maintain records according to company policy

  • Demonstrated strengths in high performance behaviours, such as building relationships, flexible thinking, and enabling/driving change
