Position Summary

The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO has an amazing opportunity for a Program Coordinator to join our team! This individual will assist in the development and execution of the New Mexico Peer Education Project (NMPEP).

NMPEP is a collaboration between Project ECHO and the New Mexico Corrections Department. With a solutions-based focus, the project trains selected prisoners to become Peer Educators. The goal is to increase an individual's self- efficacy to ensure successful transition back into the community and ultimately reduce recidivism.

As a successful Program Coordinator, you will work alongside other project members to coordinate weekly ECHO program sessions, as well as the NMPEP in-person prison trainings. You will play an active role in:

* Attending and co-facilitating NMPEP trains the trainer 40-hour training in 10 NM prison facilities

* Coordinating training dates with 10 NM prison liaisons to conduct person train the trainer NMPEP 40 Hour training and for NMPEP Enhanced reentry Education Training for peer educators

* Develop educational presentations and curriculum for NMPEP ECHO sessions.

* Assisting in the planning and organizing of NMPEP team meetings.

* Acting as the central point of contact for Medical students who attend and contribute to NMPEP ECHO sessions.

* Scheduling and coordinating meetings between Sr. Associate Director, Sr. Program Manager, Program Manager or Program Coordinator with internal or external constituencies involved in program activities

* Scheduling and coordinating activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives

* Coordinating Biweekly, monthly, and quarterly NMPEP ECHO sessions, including setting agenda and securing guest speakers

* Write, edit, and coordinate the development of educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and promotional materials.

* Maintain program/project records, research information, and prepare reports as required.

We work with partners all over the world and work hours outside of normal business hours may be required. We are fortunate to have access to advanced technology, which will require some teleworking.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct lived or professional experience with justice-involved individuals
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Skilled or able to quickly learn software platforms, such as Smartsheet.
