National Grid is hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project Controls, This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to our Waltham, MA locations

Job Purpose

Responsible and accountable for cost control and contract compliance for outsourced program construction projects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Cost Validation. Review estimates, change orders and validate completed construction costs for outsourced program construction projects. Ensure contract compliance, pricing accuracy, timely submission, and proper supporting documentation. Work internally with contract management and procurement to keep unit libraries current and relevant.
  • Risk Management. Work with Procurement, PgM, PM and construction during all phases of projects to identify cost and compliance risk.
  • Technical Compliance. Work with PgM, PM and Construction Supervisors to ensure work is completed against NTE estimates and appropriate unit costs, are properly categorized and charged for initial scope work and change work.
  • Contract Compliance. Ensure change work is validated and charged in accordance with agreed units, specifications and terms and conditions of applicable contracts.
  • Stakeholder Management. Work with adjacent stakeholders for the development of unit libraries for electrical construction projects in Distribution, Transmission, Substation, Civil and Matting categories of work. Assure positive working relationship with contractors and internal stakeholders. Develop standards for best practices.
  • Communication. Keep communications within Contract Management, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Active communication, to include formal meetings at regular intervals, with contractors and internal National Grid Stakeholders.
  • Field Cost Supervision. Work with Construction Supervision, PgM, PM and Contractors to ensure fieldwork is in line with estimated and final costs.
  • Process Improvement. Actively participate in and provide feedback for process improvement.
  • System Management. Administer, manage systems and databases as it pertains to the role.
  • Cost Validation: Ensure accuracy in unit usage, estimates and project completion validation. Keep unit libraries current and relevant.
  • Change Order Management: Review change orders for contract compliance, pricing accuracy, timely submission, and proper supporting documentation. Ensure cost savings are submitted for capital efficiencies.
  • Contract Compliance: Align construction dates with Customer, Business and Legal commitments. Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. Respond to and comply with audit and second line assurance requests.
  • Risk Management: Identify contractual and costs risk through project development, RFP, award, execution and closeout for bid electric construction projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Work ethic that includes internal and external customer focus, flexibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, an ability to interact with company personnel, external vendors, in a positive, team building manner.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and handle multiple tasks and be comfortable navigating through ambiguity.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail

$111,000 - $130,000 a year
