Job Description:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

A Welder 1 is responsible for laying out fabrications, tacking weldments together, and welding components to customer supplied specifications with the highest level of quality. This position is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment while working with supervisors/leadership to make suggestions for improvement to products and processes. Reporting directly to a Production Supervisor. 2nd or 3rd shift availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Operate as required within JD Edwards Software to perform daily production tasks.

  • Utilize blueprints to fit and weld metal components.

  • Select equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.

  • Ensure Quality Auditor is called in to verify work.

  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.

  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.

  • Sets up and can adjust GMAW equipment to perform quality welds.

  • Uses plasma, and/or oxyfuel cutting torches.

  • Uses hand power tools such as grinders, belt sanders, die grinders.

  • Is proficient using fabrication measurement tools (squares, tape measures, levels, magnets).

  • Utilize Quality Control packets to determine build quantity.

  • Repair, disassemble, assemble, straighten, sharpen, and reshape products.

  • Operates forklifts, hoists, and cranes.

  • Responsible for executing and supporting the quality system and procedures in the effort for continuous improvement.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will not have supervisory responsibilities.
