General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Corporate Giving Consultant provides critical, high-level strategic support to assist with all aspects of the corporation's charitable giving programs and initiatives, including CMS and Consumers Energy Foundations. The position manages and evaluates Foundation strategies and grantmaking in alignment with key priorities. They also identify, develop, and implement new programs and strategies supporting all aspects of charitable giving and corporate citizenship activities associated with furthering DEI strategy, sustainability initiatives, and overarching corporate goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds and cultivates relationships with funders, nonprofit leaders, and public and private stakeholders.
  • Identifies, manages and evaluates the execution of the charitable giving strategies to ensure that grantmaking and sponsorships align with defined priorities and achieve progress toward measurable goals (e.g. corporate citizen objectives, DEI initiatives, and overarching company goals). This includes review and analysis of grant proposals, review and analysis of sponsorship requests, and identification and implementation of programs, projects, and partnerships that will leverage Foundation and corporate resources in alignment with charitable giving and corporate strategies.
  • Lead responsibility for inquiries from external stakeholders about the Foundation's grantmaking and the company's sponsorship programs. Oversees the external customer experience relative to the software platform used to apply for grants and sponsorships, provides technical assistance to users and makes refinements to processes in alignment with company-wide DEI values. Manages the software platform to promote data integrity and maximize reporting capabilities.
  • Develops, utilizes, and manages automation, reporting, and visual management tools to analyze and illustrate data related to performance of employee/retiree programs, charitable giving programs and strategies, corporate citizenship activities, and other company-wide initiatives against both internal and external benchmarks to identify gaps, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Actively participates in review of grant and sponsorship applications including eligibility, administrative completeness, and assignment to cross-functional teams for internal review and recommendation. Responsible for preparing grant-related materials and documentation for presentation to company leadership and Foundation Board of Directors.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Multiple business fields, English, communications, business, political science, community relations, public relations, human resources, marketing/advertising, or equivalent subject area (Required)
