Job Family Description

Engineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.

Discipline Description

Engineering - Multidiscipline personnel typically manage a multidiscipline group of engineers. Responsibilities are within the Engineering Function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

This position requires multidiscipline technical expertise, project management capability and a strong understanding of nuclear safety and related requirements.

The position will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams on all aspects of SRPPF Commissioning including test documentation (Test Instruction, Test Procedure, Test Results Report, Turnover documents, etcetera) and closed out in accordance with PPF12 Manual, chairs the Test Review Board, manages schedules and resource requirements, interfaces with Construction and Design Authority Engineering (temporary modifications, test deficiencies, Lockout/Tagout, etcetera).
Management of Commissioning schedule/scope/budget, conduct, and coordinate responsibilities associated with Project Construction and Engineering during field tests to ensure equipment meets functional and design requirements.
Interface with Project and facility personnel to ensure appropriate resolution of deficiencies identified during testing.
Interface with regulatory authorities during inspections, audits and assessments related to Commissioning.
Collaborate with safety to discuss potential safety hazards that may be encountered in special situations and coordinate with security when work is to be done in secured areas.
Leadership Responsibilities to include:
Provide daily, weekly, and monthly leadership and support to subordinates.
Determine customer and site needs, establish milestones and objectives.
Direct personnel, conduct group meetings, review designs and progress reports, and conduct performance evaluations with an emphasis on safety, accountability, cost-effectiveness, security, and continuous improvement.
Conduct periodic performance reviews incorporating individual career goals.
Responsible for Merit and promotion planning and implementation.
Support site level hiring and development initiatives through participation in interviews for the hiring process, identification of rotations and support of the intern program.

Technical Expertise and Continuous Improvement:
Maintain technical expertise and management skills through professional training, professional organizations, seminars, conferences, management meetings, trade journals, and technical publications.

Organizational Responsibilities:
Ensure that the strategy and objectives set by senior management are met within the sub-organization.
Assess organizational performance.
Define work to be accomplished by subordinate organizations/work teams and individual contributors.

Required Qualifications

* Twelve or more YOE as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus three or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field plus eight or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

We'd Also Like to See

Ability to qualify as a Level III Test Engineer in accordance with ASME NQA-1 2019.
Previous Savannah River Site Commissioning/Startup experience utilizing 5E.
Project Management Professional certification.
Ability to apply and integrate the latest principles and methods of engineering disciplines including design and construction in addition to business disciplines such as procurement, planning, scheduling, cost/budget control.
Comprehensive understanding of work hazards, safety programs, environmental law, legal and business concepts.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
