POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania, USA, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of English, with a specialization in the field of rhetoric and writing. Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. in English, writing, rhetoric, communication, or a related field at time of appointment. We are looking for someone with an established research record in the field of rhetoric and writing who is ready to participate in the life of a large English department. Experience or interest in administering a writing program would be advantageous but not required. The typical teaching assignment for faculty in rhetoric and writing is two courses per semester, with regular opportunities to teach senior seminars and graduate seminars. Graduate students in our program can pursue dual title Ph.D.s in Visual Studies; African American Studies; and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Candidates for Assistant Professor must have demonstrated ability as a researcher, scholar, and teacher in a relevant field, and have evidence of growth in scholarly achievement. Duties will involve a combination of teaching, research, and service, based on the candidate's qualifications. Candidates for Associate Professor must have demonstrated excellence as a researcher, scholar, and teacher in a relevant field, and have an established reputation in scholarly achievement. Duties will involve a combination of teaching, research, and service, based on the candidate's qualifications.
