This Position reports to:

Technical Support Manager

The Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support for marine products and systems. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues, as well as providing guidance to customers and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and marine technology, with a focus on LV and MV drives such as ACS6000, 6080, ACS800, 880, Cycloconverters experience will be an advantage.

In this role, you'll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

This role contributes to the Process Automation, Marine and Ports Division in San Diego, CA. The work model for the role is Remote #LI-Remote

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Technical Support for MV/LV Drives in ABB Marine delivered systems on vessels operating worldwide

  • Advanced troubleshooting through ABB's Remote Diagnostic System (RDS)

  • Support customers by telephone, e-mail, remote connection and on site

  • Technical advisory function internally in ABB Marine

  • Contribute towards development and R&D teams further developing and enhancing advanced services and solutions

  • Possibilities for field service site work, both for own supported cases, planned maintenance and on-call service work worldwide

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or higher, and education in Marine industry is beneficial.

  • Experience in marine variable frequency drives, both low and medium voltage.

  • Alternately a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.

  • Willingness to travel for on-site support and service activities.

  • Preferred experience with ABB marine equipment.

  • Ship electrician experience or have experience from shipyards, understanding and interest in marine installations

  • Familiarity with marine/offshore work environment and procedures.

  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and software used for troubleshooting drive systems.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $86,200 and $160,000 annually.
