The Position

In Pharma Product Development (PD) Global Clinical Operations (PDG), we are committed to transforming drug development and realizing Roche's ambition to deliver 20 transformative medicines by 2029.

We are looking for a Global Senior Clinical Operations Excellence Leader to join us in shaping the future of clinical trial delivery, focusing on speed, cost-effectiveness, and enterprise-wide perspective. As a leader and architect in this field, you will spearhead high-impact, portfolio-wide improvements and lead a team of talented individuals, driving significant change across Roche, Genentech, and our external partners.

The Opportunity

The Global Senior Clinical Operations Excellence Leader will be pivotal in driving portfolio-wide improvements and boosting clinical trial delivery productivity, ultimately impacting patient outcomes. This is an exciting chance to shape the operational models that underpin our mission.

  • Strategically architect and lead the development and implementation of Clinical Operations Excellence (COE) initiatives to meet PDG's business objectives and long-term success.

  • Provide coaching, support, and leadership to a team of approximately 5-8 direct reports, exemplifying Roche's values and championing inclusive behaviors.

  • Lead the execution and governance of complex, global initiatives within PDG Clinical Operations and with external partners, ensuring strategic alignment across the Roche/Genentech enterprise (including Quality, our Early Research and Development functions, US Medical, and Medical Affairs), including direct oversight of IRT/eCOA,Knowledge Management and Patient strategies..

  • Drive and implement new operational models with internal and external partners, leading to improved operational efficiency, enhanced decision-making, and accelerated innovation.

  • Architect and drive a strategic Knowledge Management framework, deliberately integrating advancements in AI to fuel innovation, operational efficiency, and real-time access to critical information.

  • Lead by example in the areas of Quality and Compliance, Business Process, Learning Management, and Vendor Oversight, serving as a technical expert and contributing to PDG and Enterprise objectives.

Who you are

You are an expert in clinical trial infrastructure, a visionary leader, and a catalyst for organizational change, with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical landscape and regulatory environment.

  • An advanced professional with extensive, expert-level relevant experience in clinical trial operations, specifically in process, compliance, vendor management, systems, and/or learning.

  • Recognized as a technical expert with in-depth and broad drug development knowledge and the ability to anticipate and interpret internal/external business challenges and regulatory issues.

  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring high-performing teams and/or complex enabling projects, including providing regular coaching and performance management.

  • Demonstrated ability to architect and embed best practices to improve the way PDG conducts clinical trials, leading others in resolving highly complex outcomes with cross-functional implications.

  • Expertise in understanding, applying, and ensuring adherence to ICH, GCP, and regulatory guidelines across clinical trials, programs, or enabling activities.

  • Deep working knowledge of other business functions and the upstream and downstream impacts of decisions, ensuring robust collaboration and strategic direction.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $188,400 - $349,800.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
