What You Do. BRAND PUBLIC RELATIONS:
- Develops strategic public relations and external communications plans that support key business initiatives in conjunction with brand level IMC planning cycle.
- Implements public relations and external communications campaigns, including the development of strategic communications materials (press releases, key messages, media training, articles, social media posts, etc.); media relations; and other applicable public relations efforts.
- Works in close partnership across the Sargento communications team and marketing team to align public relations strategies that support business objectives through holistic communications initiatives.
- Collaborates with cross-functional partners across the organization to deliver business communications strategies and provide external public relations counsel for areas of business.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
- Leads the development and implementation of external communications strategies, channels and content.
- Builds and manages relationships with key internal stakeholders to ask questions, make connections, identify brand building stories and advocate for best-in-class public relations and communications practices.
- Builds and manages relationships with external media entities to ensure high quality coverage for proposed strategies and maintains strong relationship across industry publications.
- Briefs, manages and partners with external agencies on public relations efforts to support overarching goals.
- Measures and reports progress against goals and key insights for short-term and long-term public relations efforts.
MEDIA RELATIONS & Community Management:
- Develops media relationships to promote positive awareness.
- Creates strategic messaging, media training and public relations counsel to senior leaders in preparation for interviews and events with media.
- Monitors and reports press coverage, including competitive trends and insights, to inform and evolve public relations strategies.
- Manages Team of 5 in creating social media calendars, responding to social trends, requests, consumer contacts, emails and phone contacts.
Crisis Communications & Impact Reporting
- Supports organization with high quality media counsel in the event of a public-facing issue or crisis situation. Acts as first point of contact for all media inquiries or requests.
- Provides communications counsel on public issues and supports issues management, including business context, strategic recommendations and the creation of key messages, media statements and other written materials.
Your Education and Experience.
- 8+ years of experience in public relations working as part of an in-house or agency corporate communications or public relations team.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field required.
- Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Proven experience with public relations strategy development, implementation and demonstration of results.
- Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills. Must be adept at creating clear, succinct written materials quickly.
- Media relations experience with print, broadcast, social and digital channels.
- Ability to manage numerous external communications programs involving many components in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Must excel at setting and meeting individual timelines and milestones.
- Experience working with senior executives to develop and implement strategic recommendations.
- Must be curious, courageous and collaborative.
