Overview

TRC is seeking an Office Engineer to support our transportation and infrastructure practice in North Carolina. This individual must have NCDOT plan review experience.


Responsibilities

TRC is seeking a motivated professional to support our transportation and infrastructure team in North Carolina. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing driveway permits, encroachments, road additions, and road abandonments. You will also assist with the development of secondary road construction programs, including surveying, permitting, funding coordination, and utility coordination.

The position involves conducting technical studies and projects, preparing technical letters and reports, attending planning and zoning meetings, and providing DOT-related comments to developers. Assignments may also include budgeting, preparing preliminary construction estimates for alternative highway designs, and developing layouts for interchanges, roadway typical sections, and grades. Additional responsibilities may involve computing horizontal design elements such as curves, spirals, alignment offsets, and roadway transitions.

You may contribute to the development of thoroughfare plans for municipalities, counties, and planning regions; perform roadway and highway systems studies; and prepare recommendations with supporting analysis for transportation projects. The role includes evaluating field data and incorporating results into transportation studies, reviewing contract plans, specifications, and agreements for accuracy, and maintaining official project records. Other responsibilities include developing project schedules, creating standard drawings and design details, supporting roadway design and layout efforts, and assigning work to technicians.

This position will also provide assistance to senior engineers in the design and preparation of roadway and structure construction contracts. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support TRC's transportation and infrastructure projects.


Qualifications

  • Experience in reading and interpreting highway construction plans and contracts
  • Experience in directing, assisting or training of sub-ordinate employees
  • Experience administering contracts
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying
  • Prefer a Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
