Bellingham Technical College (BTC), Bellingham Washington, invites applications for one full-time Tenure Track Fisheries & Aquaculture Instructor. The Fisheries & Aquaculture Sciences program prepares students for employment in a variety of occupations, including technician and biologist positions for shellfish and finfish aquaculture, stream and coastal ecology, and fisheries biology. Teaching content includes such subjects as: Animal Reproduction, Water Quality, Hatchery Operations, Freshwater Ecology, Fisheries Practicum, Advanced Sampling Techniques, Natural Resource Management, GIS for Fisheries & Aquaculture, and other related courses. This position will also interface with partnering four-year universities and colleges for students desiring a transfer degree program. Required minimum qualifications include: Associate degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Marine Biology or Science, Aquatic Ecology, Oceanography, Natural Resources Management, Wildlife Management, or related field OR five years of relevant industry experience; Electrofishing certification OR five years of relevant industry experience may substitute for the certification requirement; Valid driver's license to travel from site to site. Base salary range is typically $59,114 to $73,980 for an applicant with minimal levels of teaching and education experience and is based on a typical teaching schedule of 10 months, September through June, 173 days. High end of range is $83,279 for those with previous related teaching experience and advanced educational degrees. Final placement on the salary schedule is determined according to the current collective bargaining agreement and is based on an evaluation of work, education and/or experience. This position is also eligible for a Washington State insurance and retirement benefits package.
