Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, providing a positive and professional experience during the specimen collection process. This position is responsible for collecting quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining patient trust through clear communication and compassionate care. The PSR I follows all established practices and procedures while demonstrating strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to safety standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily work activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional environment for patients and staff
  • Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and recordkeeping
  • Explain procedures to patients clearly and compassionately to ensure understanding and comfort
  • Promote a positive and professional image to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence


Job Requirements

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric specimen collection
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite
  • Must reside within a 20-25-minute commute to ensure consistent attendance and coverage


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required


Additional Job Details (COVID, Commute, Attendance, etc.)

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
  • This position is not eligible for remote work and requires on-site attendance
  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., with a rotational Saturday shift from 6:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
  • Candidate's home city must be listed on the resume; pay rate is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles are not counted twice)
  • Must be available to work full scheduled shifts and remain for the duration of each assigned shift
