Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary representative to patients visiting for routine health assessments or critical diagnostic testing. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort and confidence throughout the process. The PSR II adheres to all established procedures and safety protocols while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. This position may be assigned to a physician's office, patient service center, or other designated locations as business needs dictate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily work activities accurately, efficiently, and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional environment for patients and staff
  • Collect and process both forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures
  • Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to confirm tube labeling accuracy
  • Accurately maintain required records, logs, and documentation
  • Uphold a professional image while promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere for patients, clients, and colleagues
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and strong commitment to patient confidentiality
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including dress code, safety standards, and operational guidelines
  • Travel and provide coverage at multiple locations as needed, sometimes with minimal notice


Job Requirements

  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a high-volume setting
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with a clean driving record (rideshare or public transit not acceptable)
  • Commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance; excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating superior customer service and teamwork
  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations and adjust to changing schedules and coverage needs


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)


Work Experience

  • Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
  • At least two years of experience in a patient service center or clinical environment preferred
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
  • This position is not eligible for remote work and requires on-site attendance
  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., with rotational Saturday shifts from 6:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (EST)
  • Candidates must list home city and commute time on resume; pay rate is based on years of direct experience (overlapping roles not counted twice)
  • Candidates must live within a 20-25-minute commute to ensure consistent attendance and coverage
  • Training location may vary based on trainer availability
