Lead Metrology Technician - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Lead Metrology Technician, you will be responsible for the calibration and repair of precision Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE), Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), and instrumentation in a Standards Laboratory. You'll apply engineering or technical experience to ensure that instruments are properly functioning and verify performance against established specifications (accuracy, precision, etc.). This role involves managing the daily operation of the assigned calibration facility and providing service to internal customers and service providers while maintaining strict adherence to cGMP standards in an FDA regulated environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Utilize calibration standards and procedures to calibrate, verify, adjust, and repair M&TE using high precision measuring equipment and scientific instruments
  • Follow established calibration procedures precisely and accurately record results in accordance with Command Media and ISO requirements
  • Perform computerized maintenance management system administrative activities including documentation of assets and work order management
  • Maintain lab preventive maintenance program in accordance with prescribed procedures, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule
  • Manage work order flow and assign work orders to technicians, ensuring completion on time
  • Access technical resources (manuals, tech support, internet, peers) to support familiar and unfamiliar laboratory instrumentation
  • Analyze problems and provide support in determining corrective and preventative actions with minimal assistance
  • Inform Metrology Supervisor of discrepancies or potential problems that could impact quality systems, product efficacy, or safety
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workstation and environment at all times
  • Interact professionally with all levels of JLL and customer organizations
  • Perform assignments with strict adherence to written standard operating procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated work experience in calibration and metrology principles applied to multiple measurement disciplines
  • Solid understanding of GMP manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities
  • Experience with Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratories (PMEL)
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 17025, ANSI Z540.1, Z540.3, ISO 9001, and NCSL Recommended Practices
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty (ISO GUM), Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR), Test Accuracy Ratio (TAR), Repeatability, Reproducibility, Gauge R&R, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
  • Experience with statistics, quality control charts, Out of Tolerance (OOT) investigation and impact analysis
  • Functional understanding of cGMPs and FDA regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with peers and customers
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritize work effectively
  • Capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and quality control methodologies
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with additional regulatory standards and industry best practices
  • Previous supervisory or work coordination experience
  • Technical certification in metrology or related field

Location: Onsite

Work Shift: 1st shift Monday - Friday 7a-330p

Salary/ Comp: $33-$36 per hour
