Legislative Policy Analyst

Venable LLP's Legislative Group seeks a Legislative Policy Analyst to join the practice in the Washington, D.C. office.

The Washington, DC office of Venable is looking for a highly motivated and hard-working individual to join or Legislative practice as an analyst. This qualified individual will work with our legislative team on a wide range of issues including commerce, energy, environmental, health care, infrastructure, international relations, technology, and telecommunications. Each interested candidate should submit a cover letter and undergraduate transcripts with their application.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring, summarizing, and reporting on introduced legislation and Congressional and agency hearings
• Researching policy matters
• Preparing summaries, presentations, and reports involving policy projects for distribution internally, as well as, to clients
• Attending congressional hearings, placing calls, scheduling appointments, meetings and assisting with logistics associated with client events such as Hill Days and briefings (in addition to other responsibilities, as needed)

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree program prior to joining the firm
• A two-year commitment is strongly preferred
• Attention to detail, required
• Strong written and verbal communication, and research skills (including social media) are required

The anticipated base salary for this position is $65,000 per year. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of job related factors including, but not limited to, years of related experience, level of education, skills, credentials and certifications, responsibilities and performance.
