Medical Billing Specialist

Staffmark is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist for a direct hire opportunity in Monroe, LA. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely billing for healthcare services, managing patient accounts, and working with insurance companies to maximize reimbursement. Pay: $15-$18/hr

Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit claims, verify coverage, and obtain pre-authorizations.
• Assign accurate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and review provider notes.
• Generate invoices, manage balances, and communicate billing details with patients.
• Record and reconcile payments from patients and insurers.
• Track and resolve outstanding claims, resubmitting as needed.
• Investigate, appeal, and address trends in denied claims.
• Adhere to HIPAA and industry standards while staying current on billing changes.
• Maintain accurate records and generate performance reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's/Bachelor's in healthcare preferred).
• Experience with medical billing software and EHR systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and billing codes.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Medical billing/coding experience preferred; entry-level candidates with training will be considered.
