Job Details:

Salesforce seeks to hire a senior attorney to lead the team responsible for providing strategic guidance and practical counsel on the legal aspects of infrastructure, including cybersecurity / trust and digital resilience / service availability matters, applicable to cloud computing and AI service providers. In addition to serving as a leader in the Legal & Corporate Affairs department, this role will be a trusted legal partner and advisor to the Chief Infrastructure Officer's organization, offering proactive and exceptional counsel on regulatory, policy, and litigation trends as well as industry and customer insights. This role will also partner with our Government Affairs team to help shape the future of the cybersecurity and digital resilience regulatory landscape and externally showcase our industry-leading program. The successful candidate will play a key role in our AI transformation for legal compliance matters, including automation of incident response and reporting to allow our team members to focus on high-value, high-stakes legal counsel. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly responsive and adaptable, have the ability to prioritize and satisfy deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment, and show excellent, practical business judgment.

This position is an office-hybrid (3 days per week) role based in Salesforce's offices in San Francisco, New York City, Washington, D.C., or Chicago; remote will not be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic legal partner to Chief Infrastructure Officer, Chief Trust Officer, Chief Availability Officer, and their respective leadership teams on myriad legal issues related to cloud computing infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital resilience, including incident response and regulator and customer notification and board reporting.

  • Accountable for developing and implementing operational frameworks and processes for legal requirements concerning infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital resilience.

  • Provide hands-on, practical legal support to empower the Infrastructure organization to design and build best-in-class infrastructure and security environments.

  • Leadership (direct and dotted line) of global teams responsible for day-to-day legal counsel and operations related to compliance with cybersecurity and digital resilience legal requirements (contractual and regulatory). This includes overseeing the operational execution of legal compliance programs, managing legal aspects of audits and assessments, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

  • Partner with business teams and Government Affairs to set forth and execute on the Company's cybersecurity and digital resilience policy priorities in an evolving regulatory landscape, including translating policy developments into actionable operational guidance for internal teams.

  • Collaborate with Salesforce's Global Privacy, Product, and AI Legal teams to help ensure cybersecurity and digital resilience legal requirements are built into product requirements and operational processes.

  • Partner with Salesforce's Corporate Governance Legal team on SEC reporting requirements and strategy.

  • Partner with Salesforce's Litigation team on investigations.

  • Resident expert and resource on issues related to cybersecurity and digital resilience legal matters. This includes developing and delivering training, creating operational guidelines, and providing practical, real-time advice to operational teams.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Significant experience practicing law with a focus on digital resilience and cybersecurity matters, including developing and implementing operational solutions for complex legal challenges and opportunities in these areas.

  • Expertise in global laws governing cybersecurity and digital resilience, including SEC disclosure requirements. Practical understanding of how these requirements impact day-to-day operations and the ability to translate legal requirements into operational procedures.

  • Strong familiarity with global privacy and data protection laws. Ability to advise on the intersection of privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage legal teams in an operational context, driving efficient and effective legal support.

  • Experience interacting with and influencing regulators and policy makers.

  • Cloud computing and AI subject matter expertise.

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • Computer Science / Engineering / other technical background.

  • Experience in leveraging AI tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of legal operations, particularly in incident response and compliance reporting.

For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $251,900 to $384,100. For Washington D.C based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,700 to $351,800. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $251,900 to $384,100. For Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,700 to $351,800.
