POSITION SPECIFICS

The Heart and Vascular Institute at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, is seeking a biostatistician to assist HVI faculty on statistical projects. Successful applicants will have experience in healthcare research studies. Our access to patient data is limitless for research opportunities as we partner clinicians and statistical expertise.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate with faculty, residents, and students to design and implement a statistical analysis plan based on study objectives and research needs

  • Consult on study design, statistical power and sample size calculations, statistical analysis plans and randomization schemes

  • Integrate internal data within national databased for quality and outcomes reporting and internal access

  • Provide statistical expertise in the interpretation of experimental results and analyze data using statistical software

  • Mentor residents and students in the statistical aspects of MSR projects

  • Work with IT to assist in automating data transfer from electronic medical records and administrative data sources

  • Author statistic portions of abstracts, manuscripts, and final reports

  • Data entry, manipulation of existing databases to isolate study criteria, database maintenance, and quality control

Candidates should have experience managing large healthcare databases, possess strong time management and problem-solving skills, rigorous training in statistical methods and good communication skills. They will be able to work independently and collaboratively on campus.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $68,200.00 - $102,300.00.
