This full time Genetic Counselor will work both in the Department of Neurology and the Division of Genetics, splitting time equally between these teams. This role will join 2 dynamic teams (neuro-genetics and general genetics) and work with other GCs (1 in neurology and 7 in general genetics), GCAs, physician colleagues, APP colleagues, and additional supporting staff (nutritional support, PT, nursing). This role will see indications such as but not limited to epilepsy, hereditary movement disorders, neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders, congenital anomalies, hearing loss, and metabolic disorders.

Spends majority of time leading the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education (typically University). Established and productive individual contributor. Works independently with general to limited supervision. Problems faced are difficult and may be complex. May influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures. May have project management responsibilities on small, less-complex projects. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC), or their predecessor, the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG), accredited training program. Experience: None Licensure: Active Full or Temporary license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Board Certification or Active Candidate Status by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) is required for licensure in the State of Virginia.
