Faculty Part-Time - Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) Program

General Summary of Position:

The School of Education in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach graduate-level courses in the Doctor of Education (EdD) Program during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

Teaching opportunities are available in both strands of the program:



  • Leadership in Schooling
  • STEM Leadership in Schooling


Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in Improvement Science, have professional experience in PreK-12 education, and show a commitment to inclusive and accessible teaching. The EdD program is delivered completely online, with students applying improvement methodologies to Problems of Practice in their own educational settings.

Responsibilities:



  • Teach doctoral-level courses in the online EdD program.
  • Provide engaging and rigorous instruction in areas such as leadership, improvement science, systems change, and applied research methods.
  • Support doctoral students as practitioner-scholars through their coursework and research.
  • Collaborate with program faculty to ensure alignment with program goals and standards.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Doctorate in Education (EdD, PhD) or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Improvement Science methodology. Please describe examples of your use of Improvement Science methodology in your cover letter


  • Professional experience in PreK-12 education.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses.
  • Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success in doctoral education.


  • Experience mentoring doctoral students through research or applied dissertation projects.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Professional or research experience in equity-based Problems of Practice in PreK-12 settings.
  • Expertise with Canvas LMS for online teaching and course management.
  • Participation in the program's week-long summer residency (held annually in July).
  • Professional or research experience in K-12 or higher education leadership, STEM education, or systems-level improvement initiatives.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, Union of Adjunct Faculty, Local 1596, UAW position.
