A Day In The Life: This role is responsible for the implementation and execution of the company's truck transportation strategy, ensuring reliable and cost-effective movement of goods. The Logistics Specialist will oversee the execution of truck logistics and fleet management in close coordination with various internal departments. This position will manage the truck freight profit and loss (P&L), which includes forecasting freight costs and managing execution against these forecasts. It also interacts and actively contributes to other corporate functions, driving efficiency and continuous improvement across the supply chain. What You'll Be Doing: * Schedule and execute truck movements, actively seeking opportunities to optimize routes, maximize backhauls, and enhance overall network efficiency in conjunction with supply chain, sales, and operations teams. * Establish clear and robust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure progress on transportation optimization, service levels, and cost efficiency. * Negotiate and manage transportation relationships with carriers, including building strategic partnerships and identifying and onboarding new service providers to expand capabilities and enhance competitiveness. * Utilize and further develop analytical tools and data models to improve freight spend analysis, identify cost-saving opportunities, and enhance decision-making. * Strengthen partnerships with internal operations, warehousing, and customer service teams, and serve as a key point of contact with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure positive and seamless logistical experiences at all touchpoints. * Oversee the price risk management of truck freight, ensuring the right balance between capacity availability, service reliability, and spend optimization. * Approve freight invoices, conduct thorough freight variance analysis, and develop actionable plans to implement improvements and address discrepancies. * Lead the development and implementation of standardized processes in both freight management and execution across the organization to ensure consistency and efficiency. * Lead and participate in transportation technology initiative by managing integration and daily execution at the local level. Skills/Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. * 3+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain roles, with a significant focus on truck freight management. * Experience in carrier relationship management, contract negotiation, and procurement of transportation services. * Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. * Experience with data analysis and reporting to drive logistics performance. * Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a proven ability to secure favorable terms with carriers and other service providers. * Proactive and innovative approach to identifying and resolving logistical challenges. * Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners (carriers, suppliers, customers). * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
