Research Lab Manager - Michael Kharas Lab

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join the innovative team at the Michael Kharas Lab, part of the Sloan Kettering Institute's Molecular Pharmacology Program! Our lab is at the forefront of research into RNA regulators in stem cell biology, with a focus on uncovering novel therapeutic targets in cancer and regenerative medicine. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge science in a role that blends hands-on experimental work with strategic lab management.

As Research Lab Manager, you will play a hybrid role that combines direct scientific support with operational leadership. You'll be expected to engage in hands-on lab work primarily, including experimental troubleshooting, protocol optimization, and technical training, while also overseeing administrative and compliance functions at times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with researchers to support experimental workflows and optimize lab protocols.
  • Lead lab safety, equipment maintenance, and compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.
  • Manage installation of new technologies and ensure readiness for scientific use.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs and contribute to technical reports and scientific documentation.
  • Assist in budget planning, grant proposal preparation, and vendor negotiations.
  • Coordinate lab orders and advise on funding opportunities.

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong background in hematopoietic stem cell biology, RNA-related assays, and murine leukemia models.
  • Experience with hands-on lab techniques and troubleshooting experimental protocols.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices and federal research regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage lab operations and support scientific research.
  • Strategic thinker with experience in financial planning and grant writing.

  • Quality assurance and equipment maintenance.
  • Technical report preparation and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.

Additional Information:

  • Location: 417 E. 68th Street, NYC
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, hybrid
  • Reporting to: Dr. Michael Kharas

Pay Range: $75,500.00 - $116,900.00 FSLA Status: Exempt
