Position Summary

This position is responsible for handling a mix of business and corporate matters for the Company. This lawyer will also be supporting a number of FMG initiatives and other projects as assigned. Occasional travel, domestic and international, will be required.

Essential Skills and Functions



  • Understanding business requirements and the Company's risk tolerance, and providing legal advice and business counsel consistent with same
  • Effectively drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and interpreting rights and obligations under myriad agreements from everyday transactions to complex matters, including general commercial, government contracts, technology, employment, labor relations, real estate, professional services, and confidentiality/non-disclosure
  • Overseeing litigation and managing outside counsel, including oversight of work product, to ensure effective execution of FMG's objectives
  • Maintaining and supporting a culture of legal and compliance excellence
  • Act as liaison between U.S. legal department and Italian legal department on topics of mutual concern
  • Demonstrated ability to independently and proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously from inception to completion and achieve goals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present information and reports to management timely, clearly, and concisely
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and technical yet flexible, self-motivated, and big picture minded
  • Commitment to high standards of quality and ethics
  • Ability to collaborate, build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others up and down a global organization
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite and computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • All employees are required to adhere to ISO and OHSAS policies established by FMG and shall have high values for safety awareness
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands to handle materials or equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, areas of the work environment may not be climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

Education and Experience



  • A Law degree from a leading, accredited law school and active license to practice law in the US is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years of legal practice handling commercial matters, including some combination of corporate, transactions, M&A, labor and employment, and/or commercial disputes is required
  • Exposure to and/or familiarity with the following is preferred:

    • Foundational training at an Am Law firm or prior in-house experience
    • Experience in-house or representing clients engaged in manufacturing
    • Experience with government contracts
