Position Highlights This position is responsible for physical therapy activities within the CHS, including evaluation and treatment of patients and the supervision of Athletic Trainers and student PT Technicians. This position will work on call at Campus Health Services.

The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) is seeking a Physical Therapist, on call, to join a team of health care professionals committed to improving the health of adolescent and adult college students through an integrated model of health care and community health. In addition to treatment, the CHS includes educating students on how to better manage their physical and mental health. We also take a role in educating/training future health professionals in the value of integrated and community based health care.

This position is responsible for working with CHS Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to provide primary care to university students and eligible university staff. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluates CHS patients to determine physical limitations.
  • Establishes a plan of treatment & conducts appropriate treatment.
  • Instructs patients on appropriate use of equipment.
  • Instructs patients on home care and home exercise programs.
  • Teaches technique, theory, and operation of equipment to Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapy Technicians.
  • Supervises treatments provided by Athletic Trainers.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary patient care programs.
  • Provides feedback to medical providers when appropriate.
  • Maintains appropriate licensure/certification including CE activities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Skill in evaluation, assessment, and treatment of musculoskeletal system.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed as Physical Therapist in the State of Arizona.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer or Board-Certified Specialist - Sports.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
  • Previous experience in sports medicine/outpatient orthopedics.
