The teammaintains and operates 6,700 miles of gas transmission pipeline, 43,000 miles of distribution main, 3.6 million gas services, three PG&E-owned storage facilities with 102 BCF capacity, nine compressor stations with 175K HP, and 5,000 measurement and control facilities. Gas Operations is comprised of approximately 6,000 coworkers. Position Summary This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining. The Corrosion Mechanic-NACE Catodic protection training 1 would install, perform maintenance and operate cathodic protection equipment; anodes, rectifiers and enclosures on gas pipelines to ensure uninterrupted gas service. Collect and utilize corrosion data to troubleshoot and maintain equipment. Journeyman Corrosion Mechanic-NACE CP1 can work alone or with any other Corrosion Department position. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours; and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment. This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening. This positionmay besubject to Joint Apprentice Training Committee (JATC) review and approval. Provisional hires will be required to participate in targeted training to achieve journey-level knowledge of the role and responsibilities. PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $65.27 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Qualifications Minimum: * Must be at least 18 years of age * Ability to pass federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing * Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License by day one of hire * Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) * Completion of Apprentice Corrosion Mechanic program and/or completion of NACE Cathodic protection training (CP Level 1) * If hired as Provisional, must pass the provisional training plan within timeline agreed to * Ability to drive and work safely in all weather and road conditions. * Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc) Desired: * Minimum of one year of Utility Construction experience * Pipeline Cathodic protection system troubleshooting experience * Work experience and knowledge related to corrosion control in a pipeline operating environment * Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, corrosion related portions of NEC, and NACE standards * Experience with PG&E, job related * To better represent the communities we serve within a timely manner, applicants who live within 50 miles of the headquarters will be given preference. |
