Job Summary

The Fleet Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting overall fleet operations by maintaining the accuracy and consistency of fleet asset data including entry, transfer, disposal tracking. The specialist will work closely with all members of the Darling fleet team to ensure procedures are followed, support and training are provided, and asset information is consistent and reliable.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the TMT fleet maintenance software to keep an up-to-date inventory of company assets
  • Creates new fleet assets in TMT and maintain the accuracy of all asset data, settings and parameters
  • Initiates and monitors the fleet asset disposal process per company standards and guidelines
  • Identifies where improvements and efficiencies can be gained in asset management processes and procedures
  • Reports any issues to the Fleet Operations Supervisor
  • Manages and maintains relationships with disposal vendors through weekly communication
  • Identifies and corrects asset data inconsistencies including meter setup and PM triggers and assignments
  • Coordinates with Corporate Fleet Managers, Director of Fleet Management, and the Fixed Asset team to rectify and maintain accuracy of the fleet asset system
  • Validates accuracy of assets identified as leased in TMT through quarterly audits in coordination with Fleet Compliance and Fixed Assets
  • Assists with data analysis activities and development of system reporting in support of fleet management leadership
  • Tracks daily changes in general asset information including Out-of-Service or Spare classification, meter setting adjustments and preventative maintenance intervals
  • Works with Fleet Technology group to support meter setup and adjustment for GPS installs or to resolve GPS mileage or hours issues
  • Manages the input of required monthly assigned vehicle odometer readings
  • Works with Fleet Operations team on projects required for changing business objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 + years working in fleet truck shop environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to analyze large data sets
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess complex issues to deliver effective solutions and ensure accuracy in execution
  • Self-motivated, dependable individual
  • Strong organizational and planning skills including attention to detail
  • Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks to meet expected deadlines
