GSK is seeking a highly skilled and innovative leader to serve as the Diagnostic Technical Standards & Data Integration Lead within Integrative Sciences, Oncology Translational Medicine. This critical role will focus on establishing and advancing diagnostic technical standards and driving the integration of complex biomarker datasets within cutting-edge technology platforms and cloud systems, including the Development Data Fabric (DDF) and Onyx research data environments. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in defining and implementing standards for diagnostic data quality, interoperability, and integration. They will also lead the delivery of data strategies to enable Oncology Translational Medicine objectives, leveraging advanced analytics and emerging technologies to deliver faster and more insightful outputs across translational, clinical, and reverse translation approaches to identify the right patient, right drug, right dose, at the right time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership in Diagnostic Technical Standards: Define, implement, and maintain technical standards for diagnostic data integration and interoperability, ensuring alignment with internal systems and industry best practices.
  • Data Integration Expertise: Collaborate across GSK teams to lead the integration of complex oncology biomarker datasets within internal cloud systems, including Development Data Fabric (DDF) and Onyx research data environments, ensuring data accessibility, scalability, and compliance with diagnostic technical standards.
  • Advanced Analytics and Emerging Technologies: Shape and drive strategy to leverage large language models (LLMs), knowledge graphs, advanced analytics AI/ML techniques, and novel data visualization tools to enable faster, more insightful outputs from internal and external data sources. Focus on delivering actionable insights across translational, clinical, and reverse translation approaches, enhancing biomarker discovery, disease area subpopulation identification, and clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Shape and influence strategic direction for integrated biomarker datasets, fostering coordinated analysis across matrix team partners, including biomarker leads, diagnostic leads, and analytics teams.
  • Platform and Infrastructure Development: Partner with GSK R&D Tech to define and deliver platform, product, and infrastructure requirements that advance Oncology Translational Medicine objectives and diagnostic innovation.
  • Pipeline Optimization: Collaborate with Platform Sciences Data Operations, Quality, and matrix analytics teams to deliver efficient end-to-end data strategies and pipeline development, ensuring adherence to diagnostic technical standards.
  • Biomarker Analysis Support: Collaborate with biomarker and diagnostic leads to ensure capabilities are in place to support the delivery of biomarker analysis plans, from preclinical research through clinical development.
  • Expert Data Analysis: Apply coding expertise (e.g., R, Python) and advanced statistical methods to analyze clinical biomarker data, enabling data-driven insights that inform biomarker-driven strategies and clinical trial design.
  • Diagnostic Innovation: Drive the adoption of novel diagnostic technologies and analytics platforms, ensuring integration with technical standards and alignment with precision medicine and translational research goals.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear and timely communication of diagnostic technical standards, data strategy progress, analytical outputs, and technology advancements to senior leaders and matrix team partners.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MS, or equivalent) in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, diagnostic assay technologies, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Pharma/Biotech or academia with a focus on biomarker data integration, computational biology, or translational medicine.
  • Expertise in diagnostic technical standards and data interoperability for complex biomarker datasets.
  • Experience integrating biomarker datasets within cloud systems (e.g., Development Data Fabric, Onyx research data environments) and familiarity with data architecture principles.
  • Proficiency in coding platforms (e.g., R, Python) and experience with advanced statistical and analytical methods for clinical biomarker data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, driving alignment and delivering impactful outcomes.
  • Experience with diagnostic assay technologies and data standards relevant to translational medicine and clinical development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with oncology disease biology and translational medicine strategies, including biomarker-driven approaches to precision medicine.
  • Knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and next-generation analytics environments for complex data analysis.
  • Proven leadership experience in driving diagnostic technical standards and implementing data integration solutions.
  • Strong understanding of biomarker-driven strategies for patient stratification, disease subpopulation identification, and clinical trial design.
  • Experience collaborating with R&D Tech teams to define and deliver platform and infrastructure requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for biomarker data integration and analysis in clinical development.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to shape and influence data strategies across matrix teams.
  • Experience with GitHub, R Shiny applications, R markdown, and working in cloud or high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
