Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a law school, law firm, and/or legal, judicial, or corporate job
  • Experience working with non-profit, alumni relations, stewardship, events, and/or fundraising
  • Knowledge and experience using Blackbaud CRM system

Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Law School Advancement, the Assistant Director of Stewardship & Donor Relations will connect donors with the impact of their investment, as well as inspire them to continue and grow their support for the University of Georgia School of Law.

Giving Connections and Relationships

  • Design and implement meaningful ways to connect donors with the impact of their investment. This includes but is not limited to the annual student scholarship packet project, facilitation of donor and student connections, endowment reporting, and stewardship receptions.
  • Coordinate personalized experiences on and off campus for key constituents to strengthen relationships (e.g., alumni, faculty, staff, students, families, friends, mentors, businesses, organizations, and foundations).
  • Coordinate the law school's involvement in university-wide donor stewardship opportunities. Serve as a law school stewardship representative to the broader university when needed. These opportunities include but are not limited to the following: UGA Signature Lecture Series, Blue Key Awards, 40 under 40, UGA Alumni Awards, Dawg Day of Gratitude, President's Club and Athletic events.
  • Identify and implement event details to include: registration tracking, space reservations, lodging, accommodations, catering, guest list, attendance tracking, schedule planning, travel considerations, communications strategy, budget, staffing requirements, parking, and security.
  • Collaborate with the annual giving team in growing support for the Law School Fund and corpus and spendable side of other funds to achieve annual fundraising and performance goals (e.g., meetings, emails, mailings, calls, events, solicitations, and other interactions).
  • Support major school ceremonies and events organized by the advancement office and other departments/offices.
  • Refer prospects to the Senior Director of Development for potential next steps throughout the School of Law and the University.

Giving Acknowledgements

  • Oversee all aspects of the law school's gift acknowledgment program. This includes crafting thank you letter text for all annual gifts, special gifts and pledge payment gifts; as well as other letters of thanks as needed - often requiring highly personalized letters.
  • With the assistance of the student workers and others, manage the timely acknowledgment process in the law school's database, GAIL, while ensuring the donor's accurate name format and appropriate address is used.
  • Develop personalized thank-you notes, congratulatory messages, and other outreach efforts to build and sustain alumni relationships.
  • Confirm, update, and maintain the current fiscal year donor list and Annual Report on the law
    school's website.
  • Ensure all constituent interactions, activities, contact info, relationships, and registrations are documented in the GAIL database for strategic follow-up.

Giving Societies and Donor Engagement

  • Manage the law school's various donor stewardship societies - Leadership Circle, Verner F. Chaffin Society, Firm & Corporation Challenge and Cumulative Giving. Programming for these groups includes regular donor recognition activities and events.
  • Oversee other donor engagement efforts in collaboration with advancement staff and the office of the Dean. Responsibilities include preparing the Dean's donor birthday cards, hosting VIP guests for orientation, in-class presentations or conferences, special Advocate recognition, and connecting donors with the law school's Career Development Office.
  • Track and analyze data to measure effectiveness and refine strategies, ensuring a continuous pipeline of alumni moving toward greater involvement and support.
