Position Summary |
This position will help provide interface layouts and establish visual guidelines for mobile app design. This position will operate under the guidance and oversight of the senior analyst and the mobile app team lead, as well as stakeholders to design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for UGA's official mobile application. This position will ensure visual consistency and design scalability across iOS and Android platforms. While not defining app functionality, this role focuses on maintaining a cohesive look and feel and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
This position will also serve as a backup for the centrally supported content management system. This position carries out changes to the design and content of information pages, web forms, user access lists, and other functions of the website. This position works with other divisions of
EITS to ensure that the website provides information and services to visitors in a fast, efficient and reliable manner.
This position also collaborates with
EITS leadership to develop strategies to update and improve the structure of the
EITS website in response to changes in available technology and updates to external requirements and is responsible for working to update accessibility features of the website to ensure full usability and functionality for all visitors to the site. Updates to internal websites are guided in coordination with EITS' Planning and Engagement team. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Strong understanding of user-centered design, usability, accessibility (e.g., WCAG), and human-computer interaction.
- Proficient in tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar software for wireframing, prototyping, and visual design.
- Clearly present design ideas and reasoning to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work effectively with developers, project managers, stakeholders, and end users in a university environment.
- Knowledge of PHP
- Familiarity with MySQL or other relational database architecture
- Familiarity with at least one website content management system

- Create wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs that align with the university's branding and accessibility standards.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions to continuously refine the mobile app experience.
- Ensure visual consistency and design scalability across iOS and Android platforms.
- Develop and maintain design documentation and style guides to support team collaboration and efficiency.
- Contribute to the evolution of the mobile app for improved usability.
- Stay current on mobile design trends, accessibility guidelines, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
- Advocate for inclusive design that reflects the diversity of the UGA community.

Serve as a resource on the subject of web accessibility for EITS websites and other areas of UGA:
- Ensure that pages on the EITS website confirm to web accessibility guidelines as specified by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Train student programmers on specific skills, strategies, and architectures required for portal and mobile app development.
- Maintain working knowledge of current web accessibility standards, tools and issues.
- Work with UGA community to promote the design and deployment of accessible web content.
