Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

The Institutional Credit Risk team is a Credit Risk Management function that oversees the Enterprise Financial Institution & Country activity. The Senior Institutional Credit Officer is a key contributor on the Institutional Credit Risk team to lead underwriting and monitoring efforts for FCB's Financial Institution Counterparties and the Countries that form FCB's international footprint. Oversees the review, decisions and lifecycle for the counterparty-related products. Serves as a key credit risk officer to maintain quality, mitigate loss, and overall risk for assigned Financial Institution & Country portfolios. Works closely with Global Banking & Markets Solutions, Trade Finance, Treasury, Banking Relationship Group & Operations associates to support the Bank's strategic objectives and business plans through daily activities. Serves as a subject matter expert.


Responsibilities

  • Credit Underwriting - Assess credit risks through underwriting and financial analysis of global/domestic banking service providers and countries ensuring appropriate risk ratings are assigned to new limits and renewals. Determine and manages the credit risk appetite across a range of credit risk intensive activities. Ensures credit decisions are consistent, objective, and compliant while meeting Bank and customer needs. Communicates credit decisions to all involved parties, recommends further action and is transparent when communicating with stakeholders when credit constraints are an issue.
  • Oversight Portfolio Management - Provides ongoing portfolio management, including credit risk indicators and managing credit risk concentrations. Provides oversight and guidance to business units in portfolio management (at the transaction level and portfolio level) inclusive of ensuring appropriate actions are being taken in identifying, managing and documenting risk. Uses expertise to communicate on portfolio risk and to approve portfolio management actions as appropriate. Manage and provide oversight of country credit risk activities, including cross border lending and credit transactions.
  • Relationship Development and Leadership - Establishes and maintains partnerships with relevant stakeholders to ensure that decisions and objectives are effectively communicated and carried out. Utilizes expertise to provide guidance, feedback, and direction to business units on complex matters. Develop relationships and work well with cross functional teams across the bank. Help support the development of the Institutional Credit Risk function within FCB with other assignments and projects.
  • Team Leadership - Assists the Senior Director with management of the team's activities, monitoring and support of team performance and efficiency, mentoring/development of team associates, and achievement of team goals.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Financial Institution and Country Credit Analysis, Lending, or Underwriting, Financial Statement Spreading

High School Diploma or GED and 11 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Financial Institution and Country Credit Analysis, Lending, or Underwriting, Financial Statement Spreading.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Counterparty Institution Reviews and analytics
  • Credit exposure methodology, treasury management
  • 2nd line risk, product governance, and underwriting experience.
  • Ability to cross collaborate and effectively communicate and work with different levels within the bank including stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite including Excel and Power Point, experience with S&P capital IQ Pro, and/or Bloomberg is a plus.
  • Project Management, detail orientated, and problem-solving skills.

The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $123,000 - $164,000 per year.

Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
