The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. The PA will be working out of Maternal Fetal Medicine division working with antenatal and postpartum patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to maternal fetal medicine patients in the ambulatory, inpatient and/or operative/procedural setting -Performs complete histories and physical examinations -Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests -Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings -Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures -Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including visit notes, admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries -Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population -Cares for obstetric and postpartum patients in ambulatory and inpatient setting -Be a part of current Maternal Fetal Medicine team and see patients for new, antepartum and postpartum visits as needed -Supports the MFM attending physicians for patient panels within the clinic for prenatal and postpartum care. -Rounds daily on hospitalized postpartum patients as part of postpartum team with resident physicians, Counsel and educate patients and family about postpartum events, activities, lactation and contraception -Performs pap smears, counsel on contraception and perform IUD and Nexplanon insertions -Possibly assists on cesarean sections -Performs other duties as assigned -Complies with all policies and standards- Education Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
