Overview

This position carries all shift responsibility for the cleanliness and appearance of all facilities of the Main Campus in Urbana. Directly accountable for the Environmental Services (EVS) staff and cleanliness of the entire Carle Foundation Hospital campus. Technical expertise includes a solid background in, and current resources for, cleaning chemicals and solvents as well as floor care machinery. Viewed as an expert in technical aspects by medical providers, patient care staff and facilities. Contributes at hospital and organizational level when infection prevention management EVS issues are discussed. Closely leads assigned EVS staff utilizing best practices in leadership and support of Carle values and behavior standards. Actively contributes to policies, procedures, objectives, and work standards for environmental services (EVS).


Qualifications

Certifications:

  • N/A

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Related Field or
  • Experience In Lieu of Education: (1-3 years)
    • Leadership in the Hospitality Industry

Work Experience:

  • Hospitality: (1-3 years)

Specialized Knowledge and Skill:

  • Hospital Acquired Conditions including but not limited to C-Diff and MRSA.
  • Experience with non-professional staff
  • Knowledge of generational poverty, low literacy and economic barriers.
  • Pre- and peri-operative cleaning standards in both acute and ambulatory settings.
  • Working knowledge of floor care equipment and repair.
  • Budgeting, accounting, knowledge of regulatory agencies both state and national, team building skills

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all personnel related duties that include interviewing, disciplinary actions, payroll reporting, scheduling paid leave, weekly rounding and enforcing required rules and regulations.
  • Monitors employee performance
  • Ensures timely communications for the purpose of goal setting, performance evaluations, wage increases and continued personnel actions.
  • Contributes budget recommendations
  • Monitors budget activities for assigned areas.
  • Teaches for Job Readiness and Learning Program as requested.
  • Ensures smooth operation of all departmental functions according to approved policies and in accordance with all state and federal law, standards of professional practice, and applicable accreditation standards.
  • Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting an ongoing evaluation and investigating complaints.
  • Keeps current on bacterial and viral infections and is quick to update chemical tactics for these infections.
  • Responsible for chemical selection and usage.
  • Assists in Safety training for all employees.
  • Responsible for ALL safety processes and data management for EVS.
  • Assists in training for all employees.
  • Manages operations of all shifts
  • Ensures standards of quality and service are provided in accordance with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Manages all cleaning, sanitizing, linen, laundry, floor care and waste removal functions as assigned.
  • Responsible for customer relations activities including evaluations, rounding, product needs, and satisfaction interviews.
  • Will work all shifts as needed to ensure proper staff coverage, compliance with cleaning standards, and build relationship with fellow EVS leaders and front-line staff.
  • Actively participates in the facility team's efforts to improve the overall condition, appearance, and service of the facility.
  • Proactively builds and maintains relationships with other support services leaders.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $31.42per hour - $54.04per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
