NC State Extension serves citizens, businesses, local governments and communities in all 100 counties and with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, providing expertise from all College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ( CALS) departments, three College of Natural Resources ( CNR) departments, as well as from the College of Design and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

NC State Extension also works extensively with our sister land grant institution, NC A&T State University, the Office of Extension and Engagement within the University, with the various Commodity agricultural commodity groups in the state, NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, NC Farm Bureau, The NC Grange, and many other important partnerships. Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of the Executive Assistant position is to provide high-level administrative assistance to the Associate Dean /Director in fulfillment of the administration and operation of the NC State Extension organization.

This position provides administrative management for the Extension Administration office, financial administration/budget for the Associate Dean/Director's budget ; primary administrative support and event management for the State Advisory Council ( SAC; consisting of 30 volunteers); internal Office Management; and personnel management./HR duties within Extension Administration units.
Other Responsibilities
Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Qualifications






Minimum Experience/Education
High School diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or graduation with an associate's degree in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience and skills in analyzing and maintaining budgets and conducting regular budget activities, as well as preparing financial reports for analysis.
  • Experience in managing and prioritizing an Executive's calendar and travel.
  • Ability to write professional, courteous, accurate correspondence on behalf of an Executive.
  • Experience in making sound decisions (problem solving).
  • Experience in organization, planning and project management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience and skills in analyzing and maintaining budgets and conducting regular budget activities, as well as preparing financial reports for analysis.
